Default FYI - ERIC charging algorithm and battery watering

Just an FYI regarding charging algorithms...

I use my '14 Precedent almost every day, and always put it on the charger when done. I had to check my batteries at least every 3 weeks and always had to add quite a bit of water to each cell.

About 3 months ago, I contacted Delta-Q to get the best algorithm for my T875 batteries (algorithm #1). Since then, I have added MAYBE a total of about 4 ounces of water - probably less. Every time I check it now, all of the cells are still full and there is no sign of any boil-over.

I think the algorithm that came with my charger was over charging the pack (I would see readings on my VM of 62+) and causing a lot of boil-over. Now, the highest I see is mid 50s, with it usually settling on 51.9 or so.

I still check my water every month in case something changes, but I sure like not having to keep topping them off all the time.

I had the same thing on my ERIC charger. Changed algorithm to 1 and now works great, no more boil overs on the T-875’s.

Good to hear feedback from someone who has changed it and seen positive results. Have you noticed any other benefits so far, like better run time?

I only use the cart for short distance, a mile from my house to the club and back. So far no difference in performance. I do plug it in as soon as I get back from picking up the mail at the club.

I only run mine for a short time as well, so I don't notice any changes other than watering the batteries. Before, I was adding a LOT of water every 3 weeks - now, it's almost nothing every 2 months.

Can you go into details how to do this?

https://support.delta-q.com/hc/en-us...date_steps.pdf

Follow instructions on page 2.
Some steps may not apply to the Club car ERIC charger, as there is no button or screen on the club car version, but the inner workings are the same as the IC650. To verify proper download of the charge profile after update, insert a blank USB drive into the charger and use the Delta-Q IDAT software to check the charge profile and any stored charge data.

Profiles: https://support.delta-q.com/hc/en-us...eries-Chargers
Profile Descriptions: https://support.delta-q.com/hc/en-us...eries-Chargers
If you do not see the correct profile for your batteries listed, contact Delta-Q and they will send it to you, or tell you which profile is the correct one.

You need to unplug the charging cable when you plug in the usb to the ERIC to change profiles. If you don’t the USB will not download the new file, it will just upload the info from the charger on to the USB.

Thanks for this info!... My charger now is working right. I was putting in almost a gallon water every 10 days or so. Thanks again

I decided to check my water levels last night since it's been a while and I've been using and charging the cart every day. Not a drop needed - it looks as if the levels haven't changed at all since I checked it over a month ago. Amazing.
