Re: cart does not go
To measure the voltage, connect the voltmeter's negative test lead (Black) to the main negative terminal on the battery pack. Connect the positive test lead to the Red/White wire that connects to Pin-4 of the cart's wiring harness.
The Run/Tow switch should be in Tow when any of the cart's wiring is connected or disconnected, but not needed for making voltage measurements with a DVM as long as you are careful not to short two of the cart's wires together with the test probe. |

Re: cart does not go
Okay, 44.5V on Pin-4, but no voltage on the solenoid's small terminals.
That means there is an open somewhere between those two points, so you have to trace the voltage path through the plate of spaghetti highlight in red on the schematic I posted. Convenient test points: In order the voltage passes through them. 1. Pin-3 of square four pin plug to Run/Tow switch. 2. Pin-4 of square four pin plug to Run/Tow switch. 3. Pin-1 of plug to F/R switch (Flat four pin plug) 4. Either Pin-3 (F/R in F) or Pin-3 (F/R in R) 5. Pin-9 on flat ten pin plug (Out to keyswitch) 6. Pin-8 on flat ten pin plug (In from keyswitch) 7. Pin-7 on flat ten pin plug (Out to solenoid coil - Yellow wire) The problem is between the last place with voltage and the first place without it. |

Re: cart does not go
MY bad! I screwed up in post #5, I did have full voltage on both small terminals.I took the solenoid off to see if there was any damage and see if there continuity between the small terminals thinking the new solenoid was bad, I reinstalled the solenoid back the same same as I took it out except I turned the solenoid upside down to allow more room.(switching terminal sides) Now when I hooked it up the solenoid clicked and the cart runs. I don't feel secure not knowing what was wrong and I feel like a real idiot messing up post #5. I hooked up the DVM to the positive instead of the negative terminal. Thanks JohnnieB for all your help.

Murphy is alive and well and visits everybody's golf cart occasionally.
Glad is decided to start working again. |
