Default Re: 2012 RXV flickering LED lights after installing a reducer

The 16ga wire for the + and - input will work fine if it is a short run.

It would not be efficient on a longer wire run, but since those converters are supposed to provide a stable 12v output with as low as 30v input, it should still work.

The yellow trigger wire carries very little current and it would be more susceptible to induced noise.

I assume Your fuse block has both the positive and negative busses for all the accessories.

Do You have any other accessory that You can turn ON as well like a radio?

The converter may be turning ON/OFF so fast that Your meter is not giving you a good reading, adding additional load to the 12v side may show a bigger drop or turn the radio off.

You can also temporarily run the Yellow wire directly to the pack positive, avoiding running parallel and in close proximity to any of the large current cables.

The answer was a bridge rectifier
http://www.eicsemi.com/datasheet/KBPC5000_10.pdf

It converts the 12 volt AC to 12 volt DC, no more flickering.

The lights are led and it's almost like a strobe light when it's is being driven.

I have 50.1 volts at connector on the solenoid when key is on and get 12.73 at the fuse block when key is on. I connected to the connector that has the red alligator clip on it.

Any suggestions on why my cart is a strobe light?

First I would make an attempt to isolate the problem.

- sounds like you've checked all connections. Fuse install, bolts, splices etc.
-
- maybe you have bad lights....test install with a new set of led's. maybe a cheap set of led strip lights or something.

This is more of a mystery then as You should not have any AC coming out of your 12v converter.

You may have bad ripple, but the bridge rectifier will not do anything for that (other than reduce the voltage by about 1.4v).

Tell the truth. Where is the A/C current coming from?

270handiman, the rxv is an ac drive system, I assume that is where the ac is coming from. I never checked if it is actually ac, just assumed. I don't know how to use multimeter to see if it's ac or dc.

The only place You will see AC is on the 3-phase cables from the Inverter/Controller to the AC motor.

Where exactly did You wire the bridge rectifier, right at the headlight connection (+ and -)?
