3pg: Is it safe to run HEI coil on stock ignitor?

I bought a a stock coil 2 years ago and it took a dump. It gives weak spark when the cart gets hot and wont fo. Works fine when cooled down. I have a old 12v coil out of a allis Chalmers that I threw in when it was giving me problems. The cart instantly got great spark and runs strong and all the time now.
I dont like having this oil filled coil zipped tied in.
I was wondering if I ran out and got that hei coil for a nova and threw it in if it would be safe to run with the stock ignitor. I dont have time to pull the bed and all to install the hei ignitor at the time being.
