Default What are resistor mounting boards made of ?

I was in the process of changing the wires and contacts on my 88 resistor cart. As murphy would have it, I ended up cracking/bracking the mounting board that the resistor coil is attached to. I was hoping I could just run down to the auto store and buy a blank board and drill the mounting holes out of it. Other wise I gotta get it shipped in from the mainland. anyone know what the boards are made of ? also any trick to getting the contacts off. I can't seem to keep them from spinning or get some pliers in there to hold them while I get the nut loose. So far all I have been able to do is cut my hand, and get a little shock

thanks all

joe

You're better off getting a complete board assembly...

Thanks Roady89 and yea Mike, you are probably right. Did a quick look around town tonight and no luck on the board. Will try again tomorrow at a few other spots, if I strike out again will just have to order it.
thanks again guys. Its a little frustrating, I know I have seen the material before and my dad used to have this stuff lying around his electronic shop all the time. oh well

Some carburetor spacers are made of phenolic resin. I used to run them on on my race cars because they don 't transfer heat like aluminum. You can check local auto parts stores. They will be thicker but you can cut them down if needed.

Is there any other type of insulation board that can replace that? Something that can purchase at like homedpot?
