no start
Just wanted to know. how can i check for a bad ignitor? i have a bad coil but i do not want to install a new one and burn it up if the ignitor is bad also.

on the upside, a bad ignitor won't burn out a new coil so you can go ahead and try out the new one - on the downside, there's no real way to test an ignitor except to (per EZGO manual) "Replace with known good unit" ... At just over $100
one option (that will save a ton of $ vs a new ignitor - if you can even find one) is to do the simple "HEI Conversion" (easily searched here in this forum), it'll run you under $30 and eliminates the ignitor entirely ... Prior to doing it though, put a DMM set to ohms on the 2 wires coming from the pulsar (red and blue) and see that you are getting around 100-150ohms, then swap it to AC voltage on the lowest setting and turn the cart over, you should get right around a volt of AC off the red and blue wires. If those tests are ok, and you have a new, known good coil, then the HEI conversion is prob your best move. Hope this helped! |

Man thats sounds great. And i thank you. I hope i get this 1994.5 medalist going so i can play soon. Once i get it running then i need to jack it up.
