Bought My First Cart...Guide Me Right
Well i finally bit the bullet and bought a 2006 Club Car DS . (Serial # starts AQ0603 so I assume I got that right).
I'm looking to bring it out to East Texas and will be offroad with some steep grades. Looking at CartsUnlimited and trying to figure out my best bet for good torque to make it up those hills. It has 6 8v batteries Is this the way to go? - XCT48500 - A4 Motor - 2G cables |

Yep, 400a solenoid and you will be good to go. (And get a regen diode for that solenoid. Pre-charge resistor and suppression diode is not needed with that controller.)

Re: Bought My First Cart...Guide Me Right
Congrats on the DS cart. It's a great platform to build upon especially being an IQ. With the upgrades you listed and adding the HD solenoid, you are leaving nothing on the table for torque. If you make the new 2ga cables yourself, shop around and get a quality cable with the lowest outside diameter so the main pack negative wire can slide through the OBC without having to cut the wire and use the brass bolt through connection. If you buy the pre-made cables you will probably need to get the bolt kit. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Re: Bought My First Cart...Guide Me Right
This is what I have done to my DS for my hunting needs:
1. 6" All Sports Super Sport A-Arm Lift for ground clearance. 2. Rear brake plate flip to raise brake cables (see sticky) 3. True ATV tires for maximum traction 4. Overhead horizontal gun rack 5. Added a rear helper spring for carrying a load 6. Disconnected the reverse buzzer. 7. Blacked out all aluminum trim, seats, wheels & roof. 8. Camo body Planning to do: 1. Add a front clays basket 2. Fabricate an enclosure out of army camo netting to drape around the roof supports to make a stealth ground blind. 3. anchor a waterproof box in the bag well. Re: Bought My First Cart...Guide Me Right
Thanks for the tips...what size tires would you go with...from my lurking I'm seeing no more than 22". Will that dictate the lift? Ignorant here.

Re: Bought My First Cart...Guide Me Right
Yes, if you go with the 6" lift, a 23 inch tire will be a good max diameter to use. I ended up with 24 inch Swamp Fox tires cause I came across a good deal and they work. Depending on the offset of the wheel and the width of the tread you may want to consider fender flares to keep you clean if your hunting property has sloppy areas. For your information, keeping the wheel diameter as small a possible that will work with the lift while maximizing the tire diameter will give you more sidewall flex and a softer ride off road. I have 10" diameter wheels on my 24" diameter ATV tires for hunting and a set of 14" diameter wheels on 23" diameter tires for running around outside of hunting season.
