Default (8) x 6 volt OEM carts?

Neighbor is looking to buy a used (stock) golf cart and says that he was advised to only buy one with (8 ) 6 volt batteries. ??? I asked him if he might of misunderstood that,,, but he insisted that he's already looked at one. Anyone ever heard of such a thing? And if so details please.

Eight six volts? Yes it has been done. Some people like the extra run time.

Not worth it for me with the extra weight, expense, and finding a place for the 2 extra batteries.

Club Car Carryall electric models were that way. Some Yamaha YDREs. I’m sure there’s others too. I’d go with 6 8v and be happy.

I agree for almost any cart.
However my industrial cart has 8/6v and it does run a long time.
But you will cry when you have to replace them

Most carts are designed to fit Four-12V batteries, or Six-8V batteries. These both yield Nominal 48V power source. The Six-8V battery setup is the more desirable for run time and power output.

Some people have shoe-horned Eight-6V batteries into a cart. Typically this is done as an upgrade on a 36V cart that already has Six-6V batteries.
I don't know that any cart ever came this way from the factory. At least not a Club Car cart.

Yes ... the tears are real when you have to buy 8 batteries !

I believe that 8 x 6 volts are not too common except in the heavy work carts.
