Default 92 DS power blues. Options ?

I have a 92 club car DS lifted and has a special paint job. It’s a 36v drag. All the components are so old and out dated. I really don’t know my options. I would love to keep it electric if possible but it’s got to be way faster. Or I’m gonna get stupid and put a 2 stroke dirt bike engine in it. I’ve been a tech for 25yrs so I can definitely make something work. But want to check with some people that have experience in these carts for opinions. Thanks guys.

Check out the packages site sponsor Scottyb has at Carts Unlimited https://www.cartsunlimited.net/ or call David Hicks at Revolution Golf carts https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/store.

Either way will get you where you want to be with your cart.

Great links.
So if I were to ditch this cart and get another one. What would be the best set up. I live on a island so Aluminum might be best. But I want one I can up grade to be FAST. Preferably electric. What would be the optimum cart to do that with. I don’t like to be average.

How Fast do you want? 25? 30? 60? How big is your wallet?
There's a general trade-off for speed, that's low end torque.

Mid 20's is easily reachable while still retaining ability to climb most hills, and you can run it that way for hours. $$$

You can build a 40mph ride with an electric cart, but it will take a while to get there, and forget going up a hill. $$$$

If you want to feel like you need a roll cage, lithium batteries in the 72-100v range, Plum Quick can set you up with a motor and controller and you can roast the tires off for about 30-40 minutes then have to recharge. $$$$$

Any cart you get will need motor, controller, batteries, etc to go "fast". So it doesn't much matter what you start with. If yours already has the "looks", then it will be easier and cheaper to keep it and mod it for the "speed" you need.

As Tax said, you have the makings of a good cart. It's similar to mine, which is a 1990 CC DS. What I did was to first upgrade to a 500A Altrax controller, with 400A solenoid, HD reverse contactor and 2ga cables. That alone (keeping the same 36V batteries and stock motor) got me from 8MPH to 14MPH. When my batteries went out, I then converted to a Lithium pack at 58.4V (keeping the stock motor). That took me to 23-24MPH. If I replaced the stock motor with a PQ Assassin and changed the stock 18" tires to 20", I'd probably break 30MPH or even 35 but then I'd have to worry about brakes. Stock brakes are iffy at 24MPH.

All said, my mods ran me about $3K. Well worth it for a reliable cart that has good speed.
