Electric Motor Swap
I have a 2001 club car DS and I’m replacing the motor. Do I need to take the whole rear body off or can I just remove the rear seat and come
in through the top cover? |

But, instead of removing the rear seat, just jack up the rear end and do it from underneath. I tried going thru the access cover, but on a Pathway the roll bar mount is in the way so I did it from below. |

Re: Electric Motor Swap
I replaced mine from the top through the access hole. I put a nylon strap around it to lower it down. This works best for me the motor is a little heavy.

Re: Electric Motor Swap
Thanks for the suggestions! I guess when I start working on it tonight I'll see it one feels the best at the time. I'll respond with which method I go with and how it works out.

Re: Electric Motor Swap
Now that you mention the strap I remember my PQ Bandit has their "trademark handle" which I think usually helps with installation thru the access cover.

Re: Electric Motor Swap
Well I ended up doing a little bit of both. I also used an old battery cable and snugged a nut on 2 terminals to help lower and adjust it. All in all in wasn’t that bad!

Re: Electric Motor Swap
Glad it worked out for you. I also tried a little of both but my strength has gone south some what so I could not lift it up laying on my back. The strap work a lot better.

Re: Electric Motor Swap
Yeah, I was question it for a minute there but I was very committed. Haha
Okay, I’ve ran into a different problem. After the new high speed motor from Golf Cart King was installed, I tested the golf cart and it ran great and felt great. I was happy! And then, we drove around for maybe 1.5 miles and I could feel it lacking the performance. I started heading home and it almost didn’t make it back up the driveway. The batteries are 2 gauge, I have HD solenoid, HD forward/reverse switch. I used a volt meter and they were all under 8 volts. I’ve never had an issue with these batteries at all. Any suggestions on what it could be? Ugh! |

And the batteries were fully charged before we drove around for the 1.5 miles.
