Removing wax from black fenders
The person who sold me my 2013 Precedent was a little aggressive with the buffer while waxing the body and got some on the black fenders. I suspect I didn't notice it at time of delivery because the fenders had a heavy dose of armor all applied.
Any advice on removing the wax from the black fenders? I've already tried power washing and it didn't remove it all. |

White Pencil Eraser, Magic Eraser, Wax Remover, Degreaser or Soapy Water/Toothbrush.
Believe it or not Peanut Butter removes it too but I've read its not a permanent fix. Wayne |

Worse comes to worse, get some Gorilla plastic adhesion spray and some SEM brand Trim Black and repaint them. They will look new. I just did the bumper, dash panels and front cowl ring and it looks showroom fresh.

Re: Removing wax from black fenders
I've used generic brake clean in the past with good results. I spray it on a rag and wipe the spot in question. After a couple beers I just start spraying it on directly. I have used it on windshields to remove adhesive before and it doesn't seem to bother the finish. I don't think I would use the original Brake-Kleen, it might be too strong.

Is the Gorilla plastic adhesion spray just a bonding agent that you apply first?

Try taking some motor oil on a rag and try wiping that in. Works well on black plastics.

Dish soap and a scrubbing brush. Most other things just cover it up, or will make the rest of the plastic look washed out.

Dish soap works wonders at removing wax. Don’t wash your car with it if you don’t plan to apply fresh wax... If it’s still washed out after the dish soap scrubbing, you can use a heat gun to make the black look like new again. |
