Default Upgrading a Marathon

So the only cart we haven't been able to fix/get running is a 94 marathon. Before we try again, I was wondering if there is any way to replace the throttle potentiometer system with something more modern/maintenance free.

We actually replaced everything we could think of, controller, F/R, solenoids, and even had a few different pot boxes to try out all with no luck. On top of that, by moving some wires on top of the alltrax npx we were actually able to turn the motor, so something in the wiring isn't right.

So its either 1) go with the existing system and keep trying to figure out the wiring issue, or
2) is there a way to upgrade a few parts to make for a simpler system?

Just my opinion but it doesn't get any simpler than a Marathon.

A pot-box throttle works fine and lasts a long time, and switching to an ITS is a P.I.T.A mechanically, plus a different controller is needed for an ITS, unless you have a controller with user selectable throttle types.

An NPX isn't user programmable. The one with four push on pins on top is for a pot-box and the one with 5-pins on top (EZ suffex) is for an ITS. (See attached chart.) Also, pin numbering on the 4-pin NPX is different than the pin numbering on the stock Curtis 1204/5.

As mentioned, a series drive is about as simple as it gets.

Does the solenoid click when the pedal is pushed.
If not, troubleshoot the solenoid activation circuit.
If it does click, troubleshoot the high current circuit.

Let us know what it is, or isn't, doing and we'll go from there.
