Battery to be stored

Leaving Texas for the summer.....1)How do I successfully store my cart for 3-4 months? I bought 6 new batteries (36v EZGO ) in Dec 2011 and want them to stay good for when I get back to the south. 2) will a solar panel keep a trickle charge on them for the summer? (ie. 2watt/ 12 volt solar from Tractor Suppy?)

1. Keep them as fully charged as possible
2. Keep them as cool as possible. (Cool not cold)
3. Keep them watered. (Don't let plates get exposed)

Flooded deep cycle lead-acid batteries self discharge at about 1% per day, so in 30 days they will be down to 70% SoC and irreversible sulfation with become an issue.
(Irreversible sulfation begins at a higher % SoC, but kicks into high gear at about 70%)

Best method would be a float charger that maintained them at about 6.6V per battery or 39.4V for a 36V pack.
You don't want to go too high or water loss becomes and issue. (The normal Electrolysis, plus evaporation from the heat of the Texas sun in the summer)

Solar powered trickle charger might work, but the panel might get blown away. (I've been in Texas in the summer, the wind has been known to blow hot air also.)

Disconnect the main cables to controller/motor any any accessories to eliminate parasitic loads.

Considering the price of batteries, a charger that has a float mode might be a good investment.

Thanks...I'll look into a charger with a float
ALSO...If anyone knows about the solar panel for a charger...PLEASE post as it will be in a guarded storage facility. I'm not sure if I can use electric hook ups.
