re: 295 head on 350 performance engine rebuild?
Hello All,
@Tonyton: Don't go over 7000. Than you need a hardened cranck. Build in new connectingrods wit bearings in it. Be sure the oil can get back at the cranckcase, because at these revs you get the risk of pumping the oil in the head, where it can't get back fast enough, cousing lack of oil in the crankase / pump! My engine has another cranckcaseventilation and bigger oilholes in the head. Also the housing of the oilfilter is opened wider at the top. I have 1.95 liter full Synthetic in it and change it every 10 - 15 hours. Yuor exhaust will be to "small" @Dirtysouth: The enginenoise is far better to hear as a untuned V twin......listen to my vids! We use at least 98 Ron or even 100 when available. Mine has a compressionratio 1 - 12.9 now after about 100 hours. Benno |

You do need 93 or better octane for this mod. And no offense taken here. I go overboard when I do things!! Jon is VERY knowledgable with the GO's! Good Luck!

re: 295 head on 350 performance engine rebuild?
I appreciate that. I understand what youre saying. You vented from the the crankcase to the head, and open up the drain holes from the head back to the crank. This allows more oil flow back to the crank.
The exhaust ports need to be opened up and a header to fit the new size port. I definitely don' t have funds for a hardened crank. I have a 1 litre remote oil cooler. What RPM would you consider safe without the hardened crank?? No liability on your part, I won't blame you if I blow it up!! Thank you for speaking up-That would have been a very costly mess!!!!!!!!! |

re: 295 head on 350 performance engine rebuild?
Hello Tonyton,
Max 7000 will go, if your not driving this revs continiusly. Above 7 the risk of breaking is to high. Breaking is caused by unbalance in the cranck AND the pully. Another breaking possibylity are the aluminium connectingrods. My first aircooled with 25 HP did 300 hours before breaking one of them. Now i change them everytime i open the engine. Steelrods will cost about € 500,-- so its cheaper to change the aluminium ones every now and then. Till 7 they are not the biggest problem..... I also shaved the fanblades because of the higher revs.... One last question, does your ignitionsystem take thes revs? If you are doing this job, look well after the oil and oilfilter for metalparts. If they are there, open the engine before you have to....... An oilcooler is good on your engine because of the extra heat. But keep in mind tuning say extra revs costs extra $. for repairs. Another thing to remember is, that my kartengine is much more abused as yours. (Always revs above 5000 and fast revving up and down, more curves with high speed etc.) See a pic of an engine with oilcooler in my album. Its build by a wellknown racecar tuning firm named Schrick. re: 295 head on 350 performance engine rebuild?
I am purchasing an MSD ignition. It's an aftermarket ignition designed specifically for two cylinder race apps. (harleys, Buells,etc..) It's a kit with all the hardware for the robin motor. I think I'll try to keep this @ below 6500rpm to prevent so much risk and $$.
You all are VERY serious about those golf carts!! Oh,....... go-karts! I need SPONSORS!! Thats how I can get the $ and........... Anyone volunteer?? |

The mod should be good for an extra 5+ ponies so it's a great bang for the buck, Not like $200 for a cam that hardly helps or a header that cost that much or more and won't do jack. It doesn't matter what mod you do, your cart isn't going any faster unless you change the ignition system and defeat the rev limiter. (or a gear change) to me it's all about going faster, only then do you need more power. I'm pretty sure the pics of Tony grinding on his messed up rockers were meant as a joke, that's why he posted them in the general BS section |
