wiring using ground or wires??
just wondering what you do with regard to the negative on your cart. I need to rewire the lights and want to pre wire for a radio. Do you run the negative from the battery to each item or use the frame as a ground?

Re: wiring using ground or wires??
All grounds need to go directly to your battery - NEVER ground to the frame for accessories

well I think thats clear!!!!
Is it different on cars? All the amplifier kits have only the positive power wire. |

Re: wiring using ground or wires??
At issue with the electric carts are the expensive electrical components which are attached to the frame without protection like the Motor and Controller.........

Re: wiring using ground or wires??
I was asking about my gas cart.
My lights need to be rewired and I want to get ready for a radio. What size wire could/should I use to bring the pos/neg to the dash area? Can I bring just one wire to supply power to both? Can the key switch be used to cut power off to radio and lights to avoid killing the battery? |

Re: wiring using ground or wires??
Its hard to see but I fire up a fog light relay from the key
and power all accessories from a small fuse block powered by the relay the stud on the end is my ground. |

Re: wiring using ground or wires??
The frames and engines are grounded on gas carts. it is better to run grounds back to the battery, carts have alot of not grounded areas and will tend to use things like choke/brake/throttle cables as grounding wire if they don't have proper grounds. They can and have welded choke cables closed, brake cables closed to get a good ground. you can see where this might be a little dangerous
