Default Motor Magnet Question

Hey everyone been talking to ScottyB and I've decided to go with the new Alltrax controller for my cart! Got a question though, I have a 4 pole high speed magnet on my motor now, and with the Alltrax I'm going to go back to the stock OEM 8 pole magnet. Can anyone tell me what side the magnet goes on or does it matter? Thanks!

This is a question not a comment.

Why change the magnet back to stock? Couldn't you just adjust the programing to use the 4 pole that is already in the motor?

Yes you can but ScottyB had tested with the 8 pole magnet and it works flawlessly, the 4 pole is just a trick to trick the motor with the stock controller, ScottyB and I decided instead of taking the risk of possibly over revving the motor with the new controller, I'll just go back to the 8 pole.

What magnet do you have? A GE or AMD? The AMD makes no difference, the GE should be obvious. There is little or no reason to change it back though, I've run many with the 4 pole and the 2 pole without any issues

You can't tell them apart by the naked eye. I've got a card with a green viewfinder in the center of it. Kind of like an old "etch-a-sketch" and it will reveal the magnetic poles located within the disc.
