Default Need help with 08 ezgo.. Runs slow

Hey... New here and needed some help with my 08 ezgo txt..
In the beginning it seem to go fast 2 seconds later it really slows down to about 2mph.. Someone told me the controller is bad, another person told me the ITS is bad, & when I did the diag on the beep codes it gave me a 1-3 code which is a speed sensor fault! So just wondering if anybody has had this problem and what did u do first? Hate to buy a $300 dollar controller and it's not the problem..so need some expert opinions .. Thanks

I have the same cart, but haven't had the same problem.

The controller is telling you what it thinks is wrong, so that is the first thing to check after verifying battery is fully charged, or close to it.

Considering your location, I would start by cleaning J5 on the controller. That is where the speed sensor plugs into the controller.
If that doesn't correct problem, make sure the sensor on the motor hasn't came loose, or one of the three wires hasn't broken or shorted.

i have replaced many speed sensors due to your exact issue. but as stated, check your connections, sensor, remove the c-clip, remove the sensor and check the magnet, if it cracked it will do the same thing.

i woudl gamble a 40.00 part over a 300.00 controller.

Thanks... Tried a different controller now it's giving me a 3-2 code which is solenoid welded? Any other ideas why it changed codes now?... Oh and with the new controller it now runs at a consistent slow speed doesn't take off as fast now? Thanks for all your replies!

Just as a thought, do the roll test. drive the cart then stop on a slope without locking the brakes. When stopped take your foot off the brake without touching the gas pedal. After a few feet it should start beeping. If not, probably bad speed sensor.

Your original controller was telling you there was a speed sensor problem.
The roll test suggest by kgsc confirmed it.
Reinstall the original controller, fix the speed sensor problem and return the second controller.

DING DING DING "WE HAVE A WINNER"!

Exactly what Johnnie B just said. You skipped past the real issue and did a controller. If I was going to buy a new controller for a PDS it sure wouldnt be a stock one. I would get a good alltrax and then think about a 48 volt upgrade.
