Default EZ Go running slow

I recently purchased , I think a 94 ish 36v EZ Go. I charged over night and batteries are all reading 6.35(aprox.) Issue is, seems to be running slow. And when i go up an incline , it gets worse. Will make it, but slows down considerably. Not sure if batteries are issue.Any way to check batteries here at the house? I have volt meters, hydrometers, amp meters.Any ideas?

When fully charged, a 36V battery pack ought to read 38.2V or higher about 12 hours after the charger shuts off. The voltage measured prior to resting for 12 hours will be artificially high due to the surface charge lead acid batteries acquire while being charged.

The battery's health can be effectively load tested by measuring the battery pack voltage while driving up a hill.

If any of the high current cables on connections get hot, they need to be fixed or replaced.

Thanks for the info. What about checking them with a hydrometer?

It is difficult to get a sample of the electrolyte while driving the cart up a hill.

Voltmeters are easier to use, but hydrometers can be used.

How slow is 'slow?' Series Medalist/TXTs were not exactly known for their performance, especially in stock configurations....

I have to admit I am going from a G9 to an electric. I understand it will be much slower than the G9, but my concern is it slowing down going up my elevated drain field. Concerns ne that it will not be able to tow a small utility cart. Im basing my "slow speed" comment on carts I drive on the local golf courses. They seem to go up hills at the course with little difference in speed.

The most common E-Z-GO electric carts now out on lease at the golf courses are more powerful and are capable of much higher speeds. They are speed regulated by microcontrollar based speed controls with speed sensors, so they just apply more power to maintain the speeds that they are programmed to operate at. When the lease period is over, these off-lease electric carts are often sold off to the various cart dealers for resale.

The now very common RXV for example is an AC drive system, capable of running 27/28 MPH in a totally stock configuration and tire size. But they are regulated down to course speed for the golf courses. The common TXT48 is a DC SepEx drive, capable of 22/23 MPH in a totally stock configuration and tire size. The same applies, regulated down to course speed.

Unlike other brands, the modern E-Z-GO carts now in use are quite easy to turn up the speed on without jumping through hoops to get an unlock code or spend hundreds or thousands on upgrade parts... Unless you really want to go even faster, then we turn to scottyb for go fast goodies!

I'm not affilliated, I just like the guy and the excellent support that he provides for the members here. I do programming for these modern E-Z-GO carts.

If it is a resistor cart, check out this page...

http://www.cartsunlimited.net/univer...rsion-kit.html

Otherwise, browse the upgrade controllers and other information on that site.
