Default More Questions about wheels.

I am in the market for new wheels for my Yamaha G8. I want to keep the stock configuration so I am looking at 12 inch wheels with the low profile tires, which I understand will fit my unaltered cart.
What confuses me is the offset. I understand when they say there is a 1 inch offset that the wheel/tire will stick out 1 inch further than the stock one. But what is confusing is when they describe the offset as 2+5. What is the significance of the two numbers?

Thanks

Fred Mc.

From what I understand the 2" is the inside offset (the distance from the lug portion of your wheel) to the inside edge. The 5" is the outside distance, the remainder of the width of your 7" wide wheel.

If I'm not correct, I know someone will let us know.

So that means then that on a 7 inch wheel, if there was no offset, the measurements would be 3 1/2 and 3 1/2. Therefore 5+ 2 means that the wheel would stick out 1 1/2 inches further than stock.

Thanks

"yes but 3.5 +3.5 is a center offset"

Sorry, If I appear stupid(my wife often thinks so) but am I correct in my assumption that a wheel with a 5+2 offset will stick out 1 1/2 inches further than a stock whell.

Thanks

Fred

Got it.

just one more point of interest.
Are there any golf cart wheels that have a positive offset? It seems to me everyone wants a wider wheelbase so that requires a negative offset.

thanks
