Default clutch on g1 issue

i just put a new 6 inch lift on my g1 and the clutch is hitting the frame anybody have any input on this it is a 1980 i belive it has the newer clutch that is in the g8 three wight one. i can remove the dust cover and it clears but with the dust cover on it will not pass the frame reail

There are posts and pictures of members "cutting and boxing", ( reinforcing it also) the main frame to get the clearance you need. Try a search, I'm shure you'll find a few.

i don't have a dust cover on mine. do you think it will hurt anything?

Lot of people run em with out the cover, I do. Just keep it clean, lot better than cuttin up the frame, IMHO........

i ended up putting a piece of flat stock in between the cut out section of frame and then boxed the ends in i would like to get some pics up but cam is down

cool, thanks Lady Bug

We've done both, on the limo we notched the frame and welded some flat stock in. On the non limo we removed the dust cover because we could still get to the bolt if we needed to service the clutch.

no kidding ya it was a pain defiantly didn't see it coming during the build im still having a lot of issues with the steering and suspension in the front i think i realized you cant flip the spindles and keep your shocks were they are. this has been a nightmare
