Broken steering rack

Has anyone ever had a steering rack on a 99 dcs break one of the mounting bolt tabs off the rack?. Is this a normal thing that happens to these racks? This cart isn't lifted and is basically used to drag the baseball fields and move equipment from field to field (all flat land). I'm volunteering my time to the local youth athletic association. Thanks to good folks on this forum I was able to get the cart moving after having a bad controller. Know I find out the rack and pinion is broke! REALLY? Do this 1 1/2" thick piece usually break the mount tabs off easily? Has anyone had success welding a rack back together?

The housing is cast aluminum. I suppose you could TIG weld it? Usually caused by running into something immovable.

Ya that's what I thought about; Tig welding. I don't have a TIG welder or the knowledge so I guess they are without a cart until they find someone with the equipment and skills. I agree with the "immovable object" thing but come on. LOL The thing only rides around 4 baseball fields. ANY ONE HAVE A USED RACK?
