Default I pulled my motor, should I clean this? (pic)

I pulled the motor off my G16 and am sending it to Plum Quick Motors for the Bandit upgrade. Where the motor mounts there is a coating of black grease/oil that has deposited trough out the years as seen in the photo. Should I clean this surface up down to the bare metal before I mount the new motor onto it? Also, I cant believe this motor was held by 3 little screws, with the torque generated by the motor I thought it would be bolted with some heavy duty hardware, surprisingly very easy to remove.

Go ahead and clean it up. Suprising about those three little bolts isn't it?

Thanks for the quick response. Is this accumulation of grease/oil normal or does it indicate a bad seal around the splined shaft?

I cannot say for sure as I'm no cart mechanic, but what the pic shows is VERY common on these carts. I have seen plenty of pix like yours. Mine looked identical when I switched out to a PQ.

There is a "Input shaft bearing kit", part #99999-ju200-00 retails for about 68.00. It comes with a new bearing and o ring seal, but also contains a special collar that goes inbetween the bearing on the input shaft. It really helps keep the grease/lube oil from comeing out Good luck on your new toy!

hey thanks for the info! Where can I get these factory parts (looking for a diff cover as well)? Also, does the input shaft kit require any special tools, ie a press to remove or seat the bearing? I only have basic tools but am pretty handy, thanks!

How hard is the motor swap? I have a G16 that I just bought a new D & D motor for and plan on swapping out myself. Trying to build a hunting buggie
