Default 2007 Precedent hesitates to accelerate

It is beginning to happen more often. When I press the accelerator on my 2007 48V Precedent it will seem to move forward then abruptly hesitate before moving again. How can I troubleshoot this?

Your experience is appreciated!

Always start with basics, test batterys for condition with digital meter ( 8 volt bat 8.49 volts, 12 volt bat 12.73, pack voltage 50.96 volts ) and then check all cables for poor connections or corrosion. Often a bad cell or cells in one or more batterys will cause the problem you have. If all tests out OK it might be either the speed sensor on outboard end of motor, or the MCOR itself having a bad spot in range of travel.

Batteries are less than a month old and check good. All connections tight.
Gonna find a way to test the speed sensor and go from there.

Push the cart while it's in the RUN position... Under normal operation, the speed sensor should sense that it's rolling, and the cart should attempt to slow itself down accompanied with a BEEP BEEP BEEP from the reverse buzzer... If this doesn't happen, the sensor isn't working.

The speed sensor is working as it should. I get the warning beep you described.
Played golf today and found that when I slowly push the accelerator all is fine. Never misses a beat. If I step on it pretty good it falters.

Am I overriding some sort of contact switch ? Something in the accelerator mechanism?

Many thanks for all of the expertise on this board!

Sure sounds like speed sensor, or batteries not at 100%,
my guess is speed sensor is border line and will fail soon , we will see ?

It's voltage related. Cart will gradually increase speed because it doesn't provide as much load as it does when you floor it. Check the batteries with a load tester and hydrometer. The speed sensor is working fine.

I had something similar with my 05 Precedent recently. It would hesitate when starting off, pick up speed and have almost a jerking motion. Then it would stop doing that and work fine. It got worse over time. My problem was corrected with replacing the MCOR. There is also a service note to drill some venting holes in the plastic box that the MCOR and pedal assembly reside in. There's evidently been some heat related issues for MCOR failures.

What I didn't realize until I isntalled the new one is that the cart was a little jumpy when starting out and I couldn't really just creep along. That was the MCOR as well. Now it works like it should. Hope this helps.

Good thought basshawk..... those holes weren't for heat though... They were for water drainage. They had a problem originally when the car was parked on a downhill slope with the nose down in the rain, or after a good wash. The pedal assembly housing would fill with water and cause all kinds of problems with the pedal linkages rusting and seizing up. MCOR failures were also a result due to water damage.

The MCOR that I removed had a little warping on the case which is what led me to the heat idea. That and there were two large 1 1/8" holes drilled in the bottom and three smaller 3/8" holes drilled in the front of the pan. Either way, it's got to be a better situation than having it totally enclosed.
