charging but meter is not showing full
2006 Par Car, the charger runs through the cycle properly. Charges down to a solid green lite. But when I turn the key on, the meter only shows 3 dots up from the lowest setting. Each battery, have 8, reads 6.2 volts. The overall reading is 50 volts. Does this mean my batteries need to be replaced? I bought the cart in 2013 and the owner had replaced the batteries within that year.

Re: charging but meter is not showing full
Get a hydrometer from the auto parts store and check each cell.
A low cell will cause you problems. Four year old batteries could be gone depending on how they were taken care of. Also reset the OBC by putting in tow mode and removing the neg cable for at least 10 minutes. Quote:

Uhh, nah... This is a Par Car, not a club car with that OBC garbage.

Re: charging but meter is not showing full
I did the disconnect the neg battery cable thing, no change. Will get out this weekend to buy a hygrometer. Thinking of taking it out and run around the block and see how it runs. Does that sound like a good idea or should I wait until I get to the bottom of this?

Re: charging but meter is not showing full
According to battery voltage readings the batteries are at 70% charge.
You could go for a short trip and then recheck each battery again for a reference. If they go down to 6V then they are 50% charged and need to be recharged. It's not good to go below 50% charge as this will reduce the life of the batteries faster. This could be a charger problem also. As cgtech stated there is no OBC (on board computer) to reset so the charger will handle the charge rates and times. What charger are you using? I don't have experience with these carts but someone here will. In addition, you can check the batteries under load as follows: Quote:

Re: charging but meter is not showing full
It is the original but was told that the gauge is run through the computer and gives error codes. Just saying what I was told. If it that simple, that's great, do not like the factory gauge anyway.

Re: charging but meter is not showing full
Thanks Golf Cart Guy, I will get the guy who does my cart work to put a new meter on. Little more then I care to tackle. I like the old analog type with green and red dial. What would you suggest. I am in the Villages.
