Taylor Dunn B2-48 GT 12V step down converter
Howdie,
Third cart and this one is pretty cool. A Taylor Dunn 48V full half cab with 6' bed. Wipers, strobe lights, turn signals and a pintle hitch! And disc brakes too. It runs well, but the 12V system no longer works. Looking at the schematic and the visually inspecting and testing, the 12V converter appears to work like this: 48V (+) power input 48V (-) power input 48V (+) switched key power input 12V (-) regulated power output All of the accessory power comes from the battery pack (48V +) and branches out to the accessories. It appears that the converter regulates the 12V(-). There is no 12V(+) connection from the converter. In other words (non-electrically speaking), the converter appears to "pulse" the negative side of the circuit to "cut down" the voltage to around 12V. There doesn't appear to be a really clean way to separate out the 48V input side to the accessories as they don't home run back to one single source. I think I have the above correct and wonder what type of converter replacement I could get that does 12V(-) conversion without using the 12V(+) side that almost all converters have. The nomenclature of some of these converters is foreign to me. Bill V. Last edited by Bossbill; 03-28-2019 at 04:30 PM.. Reason: half cab |

Wiring diagram attached.
The converter is not spelled out well, but is near the top right with a notation of 12V negative tap. Annotation 2019-03-28 182004.jpg |

Re: Taylor Dunn B2-48 GT 12V step down converter
It appears the most cost effect way to fix this is to split the accessory 48V off and run a 12v+ from a new converter and rewire the front 12v accessories.
