Anything on the specs of the controller? What would a good inexpensive upgrade be?

I'm not a Yamaha tech but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last nite ...... um that looks like a resistor coil cart to me? Where is the controller? IN that box? or is it filled with resistor coils? Terrible phone pic. Can we do any better than that?
