Default Jumpy when pedal pushed

I just bought a 1995 Yamaha g14 cart. When I got it the batteries were dead and it had been sitting up for a year or so. I bought new batteries and now when I push the pedal it is like it is at half throttle. When going down the road the pedal will still accelerate to full throttle but from a dead stop it doesn't gradually take off... I have never worked on an electric cart before so any help will be greatly appreciated.

finallly found out it was the speed sensor. Everywhere I looked they where like $200 and up.
Found a place called boats.net and they had it for $83. Yamaha must use the same speed sensor in a jet ski or a foot throttle boat. LUCKY ME.

Thad, I just got a G14 and I have the same issue. When you push on the throttle, nothing happens till about 1/4 down. Then it takes off. Is the speed sensor the part located under your feet with I believe, green, white, blue wires going to it? I'm all new to this. Thanks for your time. Oh, do you have a part # for that sensor? Thanks for your time.
