Default New HD Cart looking to convert to gas

I just picked up this cart, it is missing the motor and batteries. Not a huge deal but I would like to have a streetbike powered cart anyways.

My question is this...
What should I use as a rear donor axle that is chain driven?
I thought a quad axle would be good at first but they seem limited in width; however the front would be great to convert the leaf spring suspension in the front.

I recommend staying away from "chain drive" too many stories of people with them braking off a tooth on the gear running over stuff.
ATV's are about the wideness in the rear…I don’t like 3 wheeler ATV’s and think they should all be turned into golf cars. Because they are unsafe and roll over easy and have a bad reputation, they can be bought cheep right now. If you can find one with “shaft drive” that is a good choice for your project.
