G2 Electric cuts out

I replaced the batteries, they charged and the charger cut off. they all read between 6.6 to 6.8 volts. Problem is when cruising at full speed the cart will cut out and it seems the solenoid is clicking. I jumped the solenoid and the problem remains. Cleaned the pedal group assembly and problem remains. All connections are tight with new battery cables. The coils apear to be in good condition. All that's left is the forward reverse switch and the motor. Any idea's? This is a G2 picked up at an auction and was not run from the fall until now. My customer wants it repaired but does not want to spend any more than necessary.
