Jake's 6in Lift - Yamaha Drive -HELP
Hoping someone who has done this kit before and can give me some insight. I'm lifting a 2007 G29 (electric) with a Jake's lift.According to the instructions, I need to re-use use the spindle sleeve (tube or spacer). I called Jake's and spoke with Andy who stated that I need to knock out the roll-pin but there isn't one.
Question: What is the best way for me to get the sleeve/ tube/spacer out? I have looked at the diagram on Yamaha's site but can't seem to get the ends off to slide out the spacer. |

Thanks for the quick response!
So at this point I have the spindle out and am trying to get the "caps" off but so far without success. The caps should just come off shouldn't they? |

You allready have the "caps" off. Drive the center "collar" out, then with a punch/drift drive the bushings out of the old spindle. Install the bushings into the new Jakes spindle, install the collar, caps and istall into the car.

The new jakes comes with the brass fitting in them already...as smallblock says just take a socket and drive out center sleeve...

Re: Jake's 6in Lift - Yamaha Drive -HELP
The issue appears that I'll need to use penetrating oil and a press to get these out. There isn't a zerk fitting on the OEM, so who knows the last time any maint was done (I'm the second owner.)
I just didn't want to mushroom the end of the sleeve, no bueno. This is my first cart and still trying to lower my learning curve. Thanks again for the replies! |

So by using a "BFH" and some persuasion, I was finally able to get the sleeves out. Now I have the front half of the kit installed!
Any possible pitfalls on doing the rear half of the cart? Thanks again for the insight! |

Just make sure you have the J on the riser facing towards the rear of the cart...I always find it useful to keep the cart on jackstands and leave the jack under the center of the axle so I can raise and lower with little trouble.
