Re: Workhorse vs MPT Series
From VC:
To be honest we're not quite sure, we start getting complaints from customers using MPT models that the cradle wasn't compatible with their carts and they had to return their kits as it was just not compatible. So basically we ended up restricting the sales of the kits on MPT models as it was just not working for those, if you like for us to check if perhaps yours is compatible you need to send pictures of your engine bay and read end to tech@vegascarts.com, preferably without the engine I am going to email some pics to the techs They also said the issues were on both stock and lifted carts |

Re: Workhorse vs MPT Series
Some had a locker so maybe that is the issue.

Re: Workhorse vs MPT Series
Locking rear has a lever on the axle for engaging and might conflict with the bracket. I’m grasping here..

Re: Workhorse vs MPT Series
Sorry can’t help ya from there.
Really I can’t see any reason it wouldn’t work. Especially if you have a lift kit. But if VC can’t give a straight answer then nobody can. I’d probably just order the kit and go with it. Worst case it’s a great start and you may have to make some minor modifications but I can’t imagine anything significant. |

Re: Workhorse vs MPT Series
In my TXT I used the lifan 15hp from Home Depot and kept my installation super simple. I planned on leaving it key start, and didn’t want to hassle with the oem starter/generator. The lifan comes with a 18 amp charging circuit so I could run lights and stuff and it would keep up. Most of the 420’s generate enough to run the engine and that’s really about it, and that was really my main reason for choosing that engine.
Like I said, I went for simple. Gutted all the stock wiring out of the vehicle and stock components. Then the only wiring necessary was just extending the key switch wires up to the dash. Installation literally took me about 3 hours start to finish. Because my cart was lifted, I actually left the lifan exhaust, intake, and gas tank on It for a while and drove it like that without any problems. I did eventually plumb a fitting into the carb spacer to use the stock fuel pump and gas tank, but it worked just fine literally bolting the engine in, strapping in the belt and letting it rip. I would highly recommend buying the cvtech clutch from vegas carts and the belt from them. You *can* use your stock clutch but you’ll have to cut the crankshaft, drill and tap it, and use a tapered shaft adapter. It’s not fun. Well worth a couple hundred bucks to have the clutch bolted on and ready to go in like 10 seconds as opposed to hours of work to make the old one work. If you do use your original clutch, you’ll want to find a heavier spring to hold the sheaves open or it can cause issues with the cart “creeping” while you’re trying to idle, grind when you shift, etc. the cvtech is way better. |

Re: Workhorse vs MPT Series
I just want to make sure I do the install once and not have to worry about the engine power
16hp is near a 50% increase over the stock 11hp |
