Re: 87 Marathon Starting Issues
A follow up on my last post;
They installed new fuel pump yesterday and yes that was the problem, it ran great....... But just for a little while then it seized up, all due to a bad fuel pump flooding the crankcase with straight unmixed gas. IF they would have eliminated the oil injection system it would've been fine, just another example among the many out there. Now it's rebuild time, hopefully the lower rod bearing is ok. *Sigh* |

Re: 87 Marathon Starting Issues
Spring is now here and the cart will be coming back out. Do you think it's worth once again replacing the fuel pump due to a possible leak? I will look I to the oil pump delete also.

Re: 87 Marathon Starting Issues
Again, first thing I would do is eliminate the oil injection and go to premix. Drain the tank, lines and carb. In a gas can mix exactly 1oz oil for every 1 gallon of gas, no more no less. 128:1 is what it wants, don't add an extra capful more of oil for love. Shake up the can and pour it in, and it's all free......
Then if you think you have a bad fuel pump replace it, no harm no foul. |
