My "keep it cheap" redo.

Just finished my 1984 EZGO Marathon. My goal was to make it look good but keep it as inexpensive as possible. I picked it up for $100. The previous owner rebuilt the engine to go in his wife's cart but it didn't fit like he wanted, so he put the rebuilt engine back into this one. Good intentions piled up and I kept it tarped for 3 years outside. The mice thought it made a great home. As you can see, it used to say "Lady Skipper" on it....my kids affectionately called it "Stinky Skipper" when I started tearing it apart.

I replaced all the wood and reupholstered the seats myself, painted it with an Amish Buggy paint that was supposed to flow to a smooth finish...it didn't. I rewired all the lights on it and bent the roof back into shape after a branch had done a number on it. Although I liked the old tires, they were dry-rotted so I had a spare set of brand new wheels sitting in the garage so I painted them and added these hubcaps. I used plastic polish and got the windshield clear again.

Luckily, my dad had an old flip down seat from his old cart that he gave me so I added that to the back for utility use. All in all, I have about $600 into it. I'm really pleased with how it came out!

Looking good! I need to give my buggy a paint job here in the future. Previous owners painted it an interesting blue color and did so very poorly!
