Re: Governor adjustment question
Does anybody have a picture of the spring to zip tie? I hate to sound so un-educated but Im not sure what I am looking at on my new to me 2001 carry all turf 2 cc. It has the 350cc motor.
Thanks |

Re: Governor adjustment question
Thanks for the help. I just went out in the garage and tied the spring and unhooked the rpm limiter ground also. I didn't drive it yet but it sounds pretty mean on the jack stands
I can't wait for my lift and tires to get here. Thanks again for the help. |

Re: Governor adjustment question
The biggest concern is not to "over-rev"!
it's best you put an automotive tachometer on it and try to keep your RPM's to around 4000! If it's more then that... you'll have engine shrapnel in your butt cheeks! again... disclaimer: I... anyone on this forum, or... BGW itself, is/are NOT responsible for your actions in the result of using, or, misusing this information that may cause possible damage to yourself, your property, or someone else! |

Re: Governor adjustment question
If you leave some spring outside the ziptie it can still govern a little, if you don't it will be direct to the pedal. The tie on part of the spring just makes it more stiff so you get more speed before it can shut you down. If you go direct to pedal and leave the governor fighting you eventually it will shred the throttle cable faster because it makes a lot of pressure on it.
Note how the tie is loose, that is so the spring can stretch that far before the tie holds it. Often that is for when you leave the rev limit on, you tighten the tie until you hit the rev limit then put another tie on just a little looser, and cut off the too-tight tie. You can then run right up to the limiter. You can do the same to try to hit a certain rpm on your tach, without the rev limit hooked up. |

Re: Governor adjustment question
Thank you sho... that was a PERFECT explanation of why I did it that way!
As for the two ties... There were smaller ones, but I felt that every time I "tromped" on the GO pedal, it would break! so I used two slightly larger ones, pinched 1 between the spring and cable ball, so it wouldn't wander, or bind. and as sho said... I was able to set my RPM's to around 4200 (FE350) without the use of a mini-tach, (or a limiter) and yet still be able to have minimal pedal response for the campground 5 mph speed limit, cart parades and stuff! |
