Re: Carb back fire
First, I would adjust the valves, .004 on both intake and exhaust, when the engine is cold. Also make shure the accelerator cables are alowing the carb throttle shaft to close all the way.

Re: Carb back fire
After checking all that Smallblock said check your breather canister to make sure it is sealed tight . My g14 was backfiring too til I found the top of filter can was not sealed.

Re: Carb back fire
Does the G14 have a plastic spacer between the carb and engine? If so, check to see if it is cracked. I hunted all over to find why mine was backfiring --- even took it to a bike shop to get it worked on! Had the carb off 3 X to clean it out. Checked the valves. I finally decided to change the carb and found the cracked spacer. Switched it out and solved the problem.
