Yamaha G14 pre filter
I just purchased a 95 G14 that has been sitting up for. While. Changed oil, spark plug, fuel lines and fuel filter. The air filter is in good shape but the pre filter fell apart. How necessary is the pre filter? Am I hurt anything if I run without it and replace it and the filter at the next interval/year? Thanks in advance.

Re: Yamaha G14 pre filter
I believe you will be ok. The foam filter just makes the main filter last longer cause its washable. So you can clean it often if you need. And you can buy just the foam I think. I clean mine pretty often, my paper (main filter) is over 4 yrs old now, and very clean!

Re: Yamaha G14 pre filter
Like Mike states, the pre filter is more or less to protect the main paper filter and help it last longer. It will also help keep oil from getting onto the main filter if any gets into the airbox. The pvc system vents there. Most all off road vehicles and equipement have them. Should be ok unless your doing a lot of off road or very dusty riding.

Re: Yamaha G14 pre filter
What size is the fuel line, The weather is supposed to be half way decent sat, think I may start replacing the fuel lines on mine, then I will clean the fuel pump, and pull the carb and clean it, seems like mine is not pulling gas through the line so ill check the pulse tube on the motor and gas cap.

Re: Yamaha G14 pre filter
Seems like I got 1/4" (fuel line) and 5/16" (vacuum line)- 3 feet of each.
