Star golf cart
Just a question. Does anyone know anything about the Star two passenger golf cart. They look good. Ten inch aluminum wheels , 5.5 HP motor, 400 amp controller, 48 to 12 volt reducer, etc. 24 month bumper to bumper guarantee on a new 2009 48Volt cart. I know at least part of the Star in Chinese. Does anyone know how they would stack up against CC or Yamaha or EZ Go?

Re: Star golf cart
I just bought one, 2007, 48 volt, 4 seat, lights turn signals, horn, 10" chrome rims, Stock $2500. Not bad speed with no mods 18mph streight, 25mph down hill.
Pros: Looks good, allot of extras, inexpencive. Cons: Rough ride, unstable down hill with 4 passangers, Rattles a bunch off road, wobble in back axle, no info on internet, not many parts listings. Been on other carts in the hood, Club Car, EZgo, much more stable and a smoother ride on the roads. But the wife is happy, that is worth allot. Can't wait to finish my project cart, Club Car. |

Re: Star golf cart
just got a 2010 in november. Agreed it is a rough ride, and very unstable down hill. A friend recommended I check front toe and sure enough it was toed out substantially. Corrected this and it's better, but still wondering how to improve it. Also, the steering seems to transmit a lot of vibration and eventually gets into a sort of resonant bouncing, and is scary. Is this poor shocks, springs, or steering stabilizer?

Re: Star golf cart
Check out my posts on my Star 22F here:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/star-...-legal-ga.html This is a strong cart and has given me very few problems so far, and I'm not babying it at any time. Mine is wisper quiet and has no rattles. The wobble you feel may simply be a tire that is "out of round." The cheapo stock tires on this cart often have one tire that has a flat spot. Watch them closely and see if you can notice the wobble on one of them. The real test is taking that wobbly tire and rotating it to another spot. If you notice the wobble on that new spot, it's surely the tire. As for the unstability, the stock fiberglass roof and (steel? lead?) rack must weigh close to 100lbs. I've taken both of them off and replaced with a lighter rack for the top. This easy mod drastically changed thel center of gravity. Different wheels and tire combos can also give you a better footprint to ride on. |
