Default Rear axle/Diff leaky hose on G1

Sorry, have more questions: Does anyone know what is this leaky hose (bottom left in pic) is called and where can I get one please? I think it's gear oil leaking from it. It's a 79 G1A.

Also, Is it ok to use just regular 2 stroke oil for the oil injection or any benefits to the Yama lube?

Thanks for the continued help.

I believe it's an overflow/vent.

Yamalube is probably recommended, but for a 35 yr old cart, any 2 stroke oil for air cooled engines would be OK-- unless it's had Yamalube since day 1.

NOOOO.... Stop driving it! I believe thats the oil line from the oil tank on the fender. if thats where it comes from it, MUST BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY! No lubrication to the engine can result.

Thanks for the link Dave. Looking in the Transmission section under G1A, it looks like 24 is a cap, but I don't see the hose itself or where the other end of the hose goes in the illustration.

CGTECH; thanks for your concern. This pic is from the top down looking between the bottom 2 shock mounts, with the seat/cover open. The hose goes from the "trans" and loops back to the "trans". Part of the loop is not visible with the seat/cover blocking the view. It's not coming from the oil tank.

So if this is an overflow hose, or vent, whey would both ends of the hose go into a fitting, and not have one end open to atmosphere? I am wondering why it started leaking now after several weeks of no leaks… Maybe power washing the engine bay knocked off some old oil clumps acting as a seal.

I'll clean it off and see if I can pinpoint the leak. I'm learning what a trans and other parts on this thing are called - so no diff on this thing. May need to buy a manual. Thanks to both of you.

Don't know if this will help GasYammi ... and I am NOT one of the forum experts! I took my diff/gear box out to put a new seal in to stop a leak ,and this is what it looks like removed. maybe you can pinpoint which fitting the leak is coming from, and the experts can help you a little better.

The "cap" or vent tube just "loops" upward and down and the end is held in a little bracket. Probably just old/brittle cracked. Part# 835-47559-00-00

Here is a pic. not a G1, but vent hose should come out of tranny and point straight up, then bend over and be held in position with a bracket bolted to tranny.

Wow! Very nice machine Mike Mac! Talk about Detailed. Must have a lift kit to get such a good angle to take that pic from. Thank you. Oh, the $15.00 crab and steak dinner coupon looks good too!
