Enjoy the G1 and look around for a non running G2 and up gasser. They many times can be gotten for a couple of hundred dollars. Then you can swap whatever 4 stroke that appeals to you.

This is the G1 in question, it runs really well now.

Nice one indeed. What did they do to the roll cage/top too allow the rear body/engine cover to still open?

That was my only complaint with the G1. I loved how I could get to everything under the rear body with it open, but just couldn't come up with an easy to open cage without a lot of fab, and then you have all the weight added too the body when open.

I've since figured out something better.

Smokindawg, the cage tubes are sleeved and bolted where the top bars meet the front. Pull two bolts and the body and back half of the cage flip up together. It seems to work quite well.

Yep, that's probably about the best way to do it.

Just a little time consuming when you want to open the engine compartment. And I'd suggest putting in pins instead of bolts, but then you'd probably have a rattle.

The factory top I had on mine had latches that held the top to the windshield frame.

Well since it's already all "done up" you might as well keep it and replace the rear end. I was under the impression that it was a project, so in this case my advice will be different lol. Just keep it. Maybe you can find a whole G2 cart for parts for like $300 and rob the rear out of it, then sell the rest for parts and recoup your costs. That's what I did. Rear end and swing arm ended up costing me $100 or so.
