Re: Yamaha G1, Gas
Yamaha G1 Gas, Pulled reeds and cleaned both side fit flush, cleaned fuel tank, fuel filter, pump works good, carb full of fuel, 100lbs compression. only runs if spray fuel into carb, however it smokes extremely BAD, eliminated oil injection, mix fuel 100 to one. same results. Muffler was replaced about 12 years ago.

Re: Yamaha G1, Gas
Plugged muffler will either not have any power, or it will start smoking once it gets hot. If it smokes hot, you run the snot out of it until it stops smoking, then run it easy so it can cool off, it should not have a problem for some time after that because you burned it out. It will make a lot of smoke for maybe 15 min of constantly flooring the gas.
If plugged try running a heavy wire up the tailpipe and see if that helps knock something loose, but that has nothing to do with it smoking. Smoke is from oil in the fuel, either too much oil mixed or too much fuel going in. Providing the smoke is constant whenever it is running cold or hot. If you burn out the muffler the oil in the muffler is burning, it collects there, and will not happen until it is really hot inside. |

Is the carb bowl vented properly? Is the rubber mounting flange for the carb in good shape with no leaks/cracks? |
