Default Starting/charging issue

Hello,

I retrofitted a gx390 honda into my 85 clubcar, Got my kid to help me and he unhooked / cut some of the wiring.

I got it to start and shut down no problem, and its wired up as per diagram.

Before i test the regulator, etc, does the start solenoid stay energized the whole time the gas pedal is pressed and the engine is running?

Thanks

It starts fine, but no matter what i do, Full field the generator, No charge at all. I guess i'll have a look at the starter/gen

Edit: Checked the brushes, every wire inside, checked the rotor for broken wires, it all looks fine.

More digging

Solved!!!!!!, I guess the field needs to be grounded through the regulator, checked the regulator and found 2 wires burned off, previous owner must have done something. works great now. I got the cart given to me with a blown engine and half taken apart.
