On my DS I used a piece of pvc that fit inside the intake tube to keep it from linking near the black box.

And as said, I hear 2 different noises in that video. On sounds like an exhaust leak. The other is link rods.

Contact david hicks at revolution golf cars for a replacement gas tank.

Ok took another video and this was taking from cold start and in 5 min increments. You can clearly hear it make the loud noise and power loss. Also did a compression check and I had 150 psi when it made that noise. Also checked the spark plug no oil residue on it.

It's really hard to tell over a video, because cameras pick up noises in a completely different way that when you hear in person. On the video it sounds like the counterbalance weight link rods. But it shouldn't take THAT long for it to come in and make a bunch of racket. I still wouldn't rule it out though, it sounds an awful lot like a CB weight to me...

Don't worry about the compression test, it's good to see 150+ but doesn't really tell anything when there's noises and stuff to diagnose. I've had motors that needed rebuilt and smoked like a train with 160+psi. I have also had a motor recently with 150+psi compression with a huge hole in the back of the motor from where the CB weight came off and made a huge hole in the back of the motor. I even got it to run, pretty well, but made an awful lot of racket and a huge mess on the ground from an oil leak. It's when I pulled the motor with intentions to rebuild it that I immediately saw the big hole in the back of the motor That engine case is still on the side of my shop in my scrap pile...

My best guess would still be CB weight or maybe be a HLA failure. They can make a good bit of racket and would also explain the power loss.

Whatever it is, sounds like it is coming from inside the motor and it's not going to be something you can just swap out and call it done. The only option is going to be pulling the engine apart. given that's a pretty loud noise, something should be pretty clearly "off" in there. Just measure all of the tolerances and check for play.

Sorry got tied up and forgot to take a video, I'll try and do that today. The body is currently removed for paint from the one that's making a bunch of noise so maybe you can compare that noise to yours. I'll pull that motor out and rebuild it before putting a body back on it.

HLA failure? Not quite sure what that stands for.

Hydraulic lash adjuster (lifter). FE350 should have HLA's as where FE290 had manually adjustable valves.
