2005 carryall won't start
Hi everyone.....need to tap into the knowledge bank.
2005 key start carryall FE400D motor. Buggy won't start just clicks so installed new solenoid which made no difference at all. Had a mate who knows a bit about electrical stuff do some tests and thinks its more than likely bad starter so have taken it off to get checked. Trouble is I am on an island in the pacific with no access to parts or auto electrical so have to take it back to Australia for testing or repair. Can the starter -gen be repaired????????? Is there anyway I can check anything else that may be the problem with the engine not starting ? Made sure battery had full charge but still wouldn't start. |

Re: 2005 carryall won't start
When the solenoid clicks, you need to have 12v power getting to the starter on the White cable. Should check that before doing anything with the starter gen. A failed solenoid can still click, but not transfer power across the contacts inside.
The starter gen most common failure is the brushes wear out. They are easily replaceable and will cost much less than buying a new starter. There are 4 rubber covers on the end of the case, remove those to get access to the brushes. If they are worn out, replace them. |
