Frame interchange
Looking for some insight. Will a 1990 DS gas frame interchange with a 2001 DS gas frame. 2001 hit a tree hard in the right front(no one hurt). I have located a 1990 gas frame. Looked on line for part numbers and can't find anything. 90 frame is clean, straight and holes look good and not warn. Can a swap work? Thanks for your input

Re: Frame interchange
I don’t know if it’s exactly the same, but it’s certainly close enough you can make it work.
There was a difference in how the brake cables mount to the frame somewhere in the mid-late 90s vs the early 90s frames. The cables are slightly different design to accommodate that, but just match brake cables to the frame you use. They still attach exactly the same way at the axle across the years you’re dealing with. There may be a difference in the pedal assembly. Body-wise everything fits the same way. |
