88 ezgo gas
Have a 1988 ezgo gas with a fresh rebuild. Cart is sputtering but wont start. Battery has a full charge. Pulled the fuel line off and will start and come up to full throttle. when engine is at full throttle I put the fuel line on and engine returns to a sputter. I am not sure if it is the carb or the fuel pump.

Re: 88 ezgo gas
It sounds like the engine is flooding because the carb is overfilling with gas.
Check the float setting and make sure the float valve and seat are clean (a piece of dirt can allow extra fuel to enter the bowl). Too much fuel pressure can also cause this issue- are you using a stock fuel pump? |

Re: 88 ezgo gas
Yes this cart has a stock fuel pump. I will have to pull the carb and go through it to see if the float is sticking. Thanks for the advice on this matter now I have a direction to go. I have gotten a lot of help with the rebuild from you guys what a blessing.
Thanks Les |
