Default 89 promblems

i have a 89 ezgo with the metal body and dump bed, when i press the gas pedal it pauses and then will go but acts like it dont want to rev up , have good fuel pressure and spark. it acts like the starter generator is not getting enough juice. replaced the solenoid no luck. any help would be great

i did just rebuild the top end with new jug, head, rings and have 145 compression

May have to replace the brushes in the s/g. Is the engine acting like it doesn't want to rev? Or is the s/g not kicking in right away?

It may sound silly but have you checked the belt tension, had one like that, turned out the starter pulley was slipping when starting up.

Check that the battery has a full charge with a volt meter. then check your s/g belt I think scottyb is headed down the right road.
