Does Overspeed EZGO 290CC Cause Backfiring?
Have an EZGO 2008 TXT 290 CC that was set to run at 24-25 mph. It has had a backfiring problem. Would adjusting governor back to 19-20mph solve the problem?

Re: Does Overspeed EZGO 290CC Cause Backfiring?
it should but i would check the rpms of the engine and if the governer (rpm limiter) is still intact , you may be getting valve float causing the backfire which simply means the engine is running so fast that the valves are not closing due to the valve springs not being strong enough to move that fast causing the power stroke to back feed through the intake aka a backfire. also check the valve lash and correct as needed having an intake valve that is to tight will also cause this problem.
