What could be wrong with my cart, besides the Owner?

I have a 2008 Bad Boy Buggy/EZGO that I got from my Buddy- The cart locked up on him, when he was deep in a Missouri Ozark Holler (hallow) When it locked up, he did hit the Steering wheel, with his chest pretty hard. He thought a CV joint or axle messed up.

However after reading about the man who cooked a motor recently, and it "Locked" up on him and the cart came to a very abrupt Halt, has got me thinking, maybe I do not have an axle problem, I might have a motor problem.

If this was your cart, where would you start?

Questions..

2WD or 4WD?
Will it roll at all?
Jack up the rear and see if you can spin a wheel.. If the other spins in the opposite direction the diff may be ok. If you can't spin the rears together the motor may be locked up. Pull it and repeat the above..

It is a 4 wheel drive cart

Extremely tough to roll and try too steer
I will get the cart in the air as long as we don't have snow

Two independent drive systems but you may have an issue with the front axle or a universal joint..
