Re: Batteries and/or something else?
I purchased Crown CR190's last year for $744 including tax (6%) with core exchange. CR 165's would be noticeably less. Prices haven't changed much since then I don't think.
Google "golf carts peachtree city". Call any of the first 5 or so hits. PM me if you want more details. I can't post details as none of them are site sponsors. |

Re: Batteries and/or something else?
I'm with Budule. If hauling the cart to Augusta is doable I'd do it. David has an excellent reputation here.

Re: Batteries and/or something else?
I did buy a couple of sets in Peachtree City, price and it's 25 miles , David mentioned how far it is to Atlanta Motor speedway and I'm 2 miles from it. Being this close does have some good things, I got to drive about twenty five minutes on the 12th,

Re: Batteries and/or something else?
I had 25 minutes of track time, three 8 minute drives, now I did a single 8 minutes back in May, you need that one in my opinion to trust yourself on track. This was with NASCAR Racing Experience , you have two way radio with a spotter and when you do the three they move the rev limiter from 5000 to 5400 RPM's.

Re: Batteries and/or something else?
I did another voltage test tonight this time with the car up on jack stands. Total pack voltage was 50.3V at rest, and dropped to 48.9V with the wheels spinning full speed. Then did individual batteries: At rest all were 8.3 - 8.5V, and dropped exactly 0.2V when spinning the wheels. Granted there was no resistance to rolling with the wheels up off the ground, but this seems reasonable.
I did find that the batteries have been neglected for some time; I assume the former owner cleaned up the tops before I test drove it, but the bottoms were a real mess! Acid eating away the battery frames below; I went through 2 gallons of baking soda solution and still probably only got half of it; will have to get more tomorrow to continue cleaning, and may even have to replace or at least reinforce the battery tray angles. With the batteries out of the cart and clean, I noticed that they are still bubbling/venting, even hours after removal. Is this normal? At this point, I guess I am looking at a set of batteries, a set of cables (those were beginning to corrode, but closer inspection upon removal revelaed several of the terminals were nearly eaten through, though they have been cleaned, and the wires themselves didn't look all that great...) and an OBC, along with some elbow grease and light metal work on the battery trays. Is there anything else I should be checking/looking for at this point? |
