If you have HD rear springs the supplied U bolts aren't long enough to engage the nylon locknut. Spoke with TahoeDawg on mine and I wound up going with straight 7" bolts instead of U bolts. But mine did have two sets of them on each side. My in laws cart has a single u bolt but I wouldn't feel comfortable with that

You definitely need a two U-bolt system on each side of the rear end (four U-bolts total). I had the exact same problem on my 2001 Club Car DS. Axle twist and brakes locking up with a one U-bolt system on each side. Ordered the two U-bolt system on each side from AllSports. I think it is called the rear SuperSport lift. Call them and talk to them. Once installed, that cured the problem. I still check them about once a year to make sure they're tight.

It sounds like your on the right track Pat!

But I have to add my .02 about a couple of things...
I don't think that I would EVER use straight bolts on a single U bolt electric transaxle,
The upper bracket (even reinforced "L") will bend over time, and a U bolt will minimize that!

And X2 on the All Sports Super Sport rear lift!
(However, I bought my 3 at Cart Parts Plus... A fine BGW sponsor)

Here's a "fun" thread to read about electric Club Cars, and U Bolts!

I don't know if this would work but couldent you take out the Allen bolt and cut it or grind it down to the desired length? That would help the axel plate and spring perch sit tight (less likely to rotate in place)

I got a call from jakes suggesting that as well.

I ran to pep boys & HD and they had lots of options with heads that are shorter.

You guys got me thinking about calling all sport to get the 2 ubolt setup

I'm with Lockman, I would never use straight bolts in a single u-bolt setup. My in laws cart has single u bolt setup and I wouldn't keep that. Seems you just need the lower plate to change to double setup but I'm not sure
